Spend Analytics
What Is Spend Analytics?
Spend analytics is the process of collecting, cleansing, classifying and analyzing procurement data to identify spending patterns, savings opportunities, supplier risks and areas of uncontrolled spend. It turns transactional data from sources such as purchase orders, invoices and contracts into a structured view of how much an organization spends, with which suppliers and across which categories.
In an enterprise environment, spend analytics typically combines data from ERP and procurement systems to create visibility across business units, entities, locations and, where applicable, multiple ERP instances. Without a consolidated view, spend classification can remain inconsistent, making it harder to identify savings opportunities, maverick spend, supplier concentration and other procurement risks.
How Spend Analytics Works
How SAFAL Supports Spend Analytics
SAFAL's Spend Analytics capability brings together procurement data from purchase orders, invoices and contracts within a connected Source-to-Pay environment, with integration across SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics and Navision to improve spend visibility across entities and locations. Spend categorization and analysis can help procurement teams identify supplier concentration, maverick spend, tail spend and potential sourcing opportunities, supporting more informed sourcing and budget decisions. This is particularly useful for multi-entity enterprises in industries such as EPC, oil and gas, chemicals and manufacturing, where procurement spend may be distributed across multiple plants, business units, locations or ERP environments.
