Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM)
What Is Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM)?
Contract lifecycle management, usually shortened to CLM, is the process of managing a contract from the initial request through drafting, negotiation, approval, signature, performance tracking and renewal or expiry. It keeps contract terms, obligations and key dates in one controlled record instead of scattered across emails, shared drives and spreadsheets.
In an enterprise environment, CLM connects the terms agreed during sourcing to what is later purchased and paid. Without that link, negotiated pricing and conditions can drift from the purchase orders and invoices raised against them, and renewals or expiries can pass unnoticed.
How Contract Lifecycle Management Works
How SAFAL Supports Contract Lifecycle Management
SAFAL's contract lifecycle management capability connects contract drafting, approval, storage and renewal tracking to sourcing outcomes and purchasing, integrated natively with SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics and Navision. Terms agreed during sourcing carry through to purchase orders, so contract pricing and conditions stay consistent with what is ordered. This is particularly useful for multi-entity enterprises with large supplier bases, such as those in EPC, oil and gas, chemicals and manufacturing, where contract volumes are high and approval structures vary by entity and category.
